Traffic Law

Advantages of hiring a traffic attorney

  1. Stay out of court,
  2. Keep points off your record, and
  3. Keep your insurance from raising due to a traffic ticket.

When you receive a traffic ticket in Missouri, you’re innocent until proven guilty.  Most traffic ticket cases can be plea bargained as long as the attorney is ready, willing and able to take a case to trial, because generally speaking, it is quite expensive to conduct trials in traffic ticket cases. The plea bargain, if one is offered, usually involves a guilty plea to a lesser offense to minimize the harmful effects of a conviction on a driver’s record.  The state or city will usually ask for a higher fine and court costs, and there might be a period of probation. The end result is no conviction on the record and thereby no insurance increase or points problem or suspension.

How It Works

  1. Hire Aaron A. Farmer.  This can be started online, or by calling 314-821-0018.  At this time basic information regarding you and your ticket is obtained.
  1. Pay attorney fee.
  2. Receive a letter from Aaron A. Farmer covering what will happen next and a receipt for your payment.
  3. Wait to receive instructions in the mail from Aaron A. Farmer regarding how to pay your amended fines to the Court.  In most circumstances you will NOT be required to appear in Court at any time.
  1. Mail your payment to the Court.

How Much Will It Cost?

The fine will be negotiated based on your driving record, court file, and the officer’s report.  Court costs are always fixed.  The fine amount the officer gave you is gone once you hire an attorney.

Is This Legal?

Yes, Attorneys negotiate plea deals on every type of criminal case.

Can’t I Get That Deal On My Own?

Sometimes a judge will give you probation without a lawyer if you go to driving school.

What Happens If I Plead Guilty?

Points will be assessed against your license, and your car insurance premiums will likely rise.  If you get enough points your license can be suspended.

What If I Want To Fight The Ticket?

We handle ticket trials from $500.  The price is based on the 4-8 hours of work preparing and conducting a ticket trial will take.  Please contact my office if you are interested in pursing a trial.

How Many Points Is My Ticket?

Most regular tickets in Municipal Courts are 2 point tickets.

How Many Points Can I Get?

If you accumulate eight points in 18 months, your driving privilege will be suspended for 30 days if it is the first suspension, 60 days if it is the second suspension, and 90 days if it is the third suspension. If you accumulate 12 points in 12 months, 18 points in 24 months, or 24 points in 36 months, your driving privilege will be revoked for one year.
